Live line Penn Spinfisher V replacement

Took your sound advice for a lighter king rig and purchased a Battle ll 5000 7 ft combo. Spooled 1/3 with 20# Power Pro and the remainder with "Big Game" 15# mono. According to my rough calculations I wound up with 100-125 yrds of mono topping and a total of 250 yards total. Does that sound about right and is this ok for Kings from the pier?
Plan to pier fish the week of October 15th. Really looking forward to it.
Got my spanish rigs, bubbles, Gotchas, and spoons, but I need your advice on kings. I fished LYS and a Xrap Twitching minnow(red & white) during July 4th week with no luck. Some kings were being caught on SR12 Xraps in various colors.
I'm thinking of picking up a couple of SR 12's in Pink, Olive, or Ghost. Any thoughts on color for mid October?
Thanks for your help over the past 4 trips to Orange Beach for a week of pier fishing.

I used the new "pilchard" color when I was down....I had several good hits but no hookups. It is very LY looking. I'll never understand how a king can hit that plug that hard and not get hooked up, but it happens. Size 12. The olive color has been hot this year too. I used the bunker size 10 that connected on some good spanish. I was there in July and they were killing the Olive in size 14 and very little else.

The king whisperer Steve uses cigar minnows a lot.

Good luck. catch fish. Write reports. Post pictures if you can.
