    Line Lube

I saw a fellow washing down his gear and then use wd-40 as a line lube...?.., sprayed it on his reel spool of line. I saw some line conditioner or lube in a spray bottle at wal mart. Anyone of yall use it. What do you do , just spray it on top of reel spool?

Been a fan of reel magic for years. Still am but it does seem to degrade light lines over time. Vicious has a line conditioner that is really good. It is also marketed as Kevin Vandamm line and lure conditioner. I like it better. Extends line life. Petroleum and propellant in wd40 will break the line down in time. But when you change line often its probably not a big deal.

I try to change mine once a year, usually in February, that calm month between duck season and fishing picking back up.
Or simply when your line tells you that you need it. If you line is getting frayed, stiff and doesnt cast or tie a knot as well as it should, time to re-spool. On really high capacity reels, sometime you can take off the top 100 yards and then add new line on top.
