Lawn cart/pier cart question?
Have any of you guys ever used the harbor freight lawn cart for a pier cart? If so how did you attach your rod holders? I currently have a pier cart made from pvc. Obviously I'm looking for the biggest bang for my buck so if you guys know of a better cart let me know. Thanks for the input.

Which HF lawn cart?
I have found that large u-bolts that go around a rod holder and thru a cart frame are helpful for a cart that lives another life the other 51 weeks. A couple of zip ties per holder are even cheaper.

The one hf has doesn't have any sides so I'm curious how to attach the rod holders? I was thinking about drilling holes and using u-bolts but not real sure if the frame could support it.

You could do like a kayaker and set on a milk crate with rod holders attached to that. Anchor the crate to cart bottom. I have a crate with 4 rodholders in corners and a bucket or small Cooler in center. Put a zip tie at top AND bottom in each corner.
It will be unstable if rods are heavy or tall so anchoring is not optional. A ratchet strap or 2 around cart and crate prevents drilling holes in cart but takes some finesse to access cooler. Also attach the cooler lid with duct tape or cord or the wind may steal it. Piece of cardboard on bottom of crate catches tackle from dropping through and getting lost.

Is it this one?
If so, cut a piece of plywood about 4" wider than the frame, then using a hole saw, drill holes in the wood where it overhangs the frame. You can drill them just large enough for the rod handles to go through, or drill them large enough and drop a PVC rod holder in the holes. To mount the wood to the frame, drill a couple of holes in the plywood and run a bolt through them and through the bed of the cart and secure with a fender washer and nut (the fender washer will prevent the nut from pulling through the expanded metal bed.

That's the one, that's a good idea didn't think about using plywood. Thanks for the advice.

Depending on how many rods you have,Take a piece of 2x4 and screw some 1.5" or 2" flat PVC end caps to the board around 8" apart then then insert some 10" pieces of pipe in the caps. To attach the wood to the cart, use some lflat washers larger than the diamond wire and 1.5" screws and screw it from the bottom up. When done, remove from cart and screw it to the wall in the garage a couple inches from the ceiling with a couple 1/4" shims at the bottom to angle it up a little and store your rods when not in use.
