    Harnell blank

I picked up a slightly broken 1 piece Harnell rod (8ft-7)......assuming it was 9ft.....black in color, wondering if someone knew the type of blank under the paint.....the paint isn't bad but now way perfect......I do like the natural fiber glass look, especially the darker conolon blanks. ...thanks for any help

Strip or not too before the rebuild this winter......might be a good cobia rod for a hopeful spring trip if the bride can come (depends on the mother-in law's health)

The color of the blank will either be brown or black with brown being older. Bottom line is start stripping and see what you find. Most of the older black glass blanks had a lot of silver/gray material in them and this can be painted over with three thin coats of Krylon rattle can paint outside while turning on the finish motor.
