Mine is 5#'s. I used conduit to go around the shaft, then put it in a bucket of sand and filled it with lead. Works well for me.
Use the search bar in the upper right corner and I'm sure you'll find all kinds of answers to the same questions you have.

Mine were 4lb 2-3oz......the cobe gaff's were right at 5lb......anywhere in that poundage.....need the weight most on windy days and for good penitration, other wise the gaff might bounce off the fish with a marginal shot......1/2in to 5/8 in solid braided nylon rope.(not 3 strand twisted).....for good hand grab

Cajun Gator Fish Gigs Recovery Hook Bridge Hook Pierhook Gator Hook Alligator Hook Pier Hook Called Dennis a couple years ago. Told him what I wanted and he made it and shipped very quick. He has a good selection of gaffs or can make what you want. Was very easy to deal with. I love my gaff he made. I think I paid around $60 with shipping then. Ill try to send a pic of it later.
Oh and its about 5Lbs.

I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
