I watched that video a million times and could never get consistant results. Simonds makes it look easy, took me too long and it was pain to do in the kayak. I was bound and determined to master it, I’ve since abandoned braid.

I have found the Trilene knot works fine for 90% of my knot needs (including braid).
What type knot is used at Gulf Shores pier for tying 7 strand or single strand to a treble hook or swivel. Most of my experience has been at Navarre and a lot of people there use the figure 8 knot
I don't use 7 strand but for single strand, just about every one i know uses a haywire twist.
Single strand is always a Haywire Twist.
Sevenstrand, I the a double overhand and a few wraps.
Palomar and uni.
For braid to a swivel be sure to put the braid through the swivel eye twice then use a uni knot. A trilene knot will work with braid but will slip some unless you leave a little tag and pull it tight. Never had the uni slip but I use 10 wraps.
I like using a blood knot to tie to 2 lines together of equal length. It's great when you need to add more line to your reel and its easy to tie
