Favorite Knots

Hello Everyone,
Been practicing a lot of different knots from you tube. Anyone care to share their favorite knots?

Mono to:
leader swivel
hook
braid splice

Braid to:
leader swivel
hook

For mono, you'll find the uni-knot is used a lot on the pier.

I use a FG for mono to braid ,
uni-knot and Albright and nail depending on the line and use .

Pretty much use the uni-knot exclusively.

Terminal knots
Trilene (<60lbs)
San Diego Jam (> 60lbs)

Lures
Rapala

Line to Line
Improved Albright
Double Uni

I'm like CarlF and use the Uni for everything, though I vary the number of wraps according to the strength of the line. Ex: three wraps for 50# mono as leader---when your main line is 15#, why worry about getting 100% knot strength? Also the knot is smaller.

Me, too, CarlF! It takes just a second to tie, I never experience a break or an undoing at the knot, and I can tie it in the dark. I learned to tie it about 45-50 years ago (there was a diagram in a Field and Stream Magazine) and it has served me well ever since.

Been having the best luck lately with a surgeons knot with my mono to fleouro leader.

I mostly use the uni for lures and hooks. If you are just learning the uni, one point to know is that you have to pull hard on the tag end to get it tight. If you just tighten it by pulling mostly on the running line you have a good chance of it unraveling on a big fish (voice of experience). If in doubt, tie a half-granny for a stopper in the tag end before snipping it.

For 50 lb mono and up I use a figure-8 with one more loop (is that a 12?).

For 50 lb mono to wire and 15(ish) mono to 50 lb mono I use an Allbright. Mono to wire with an Allbright figure to lose almost 50% line strength at the knot.
