el cheapo pier cart

After looking at pier cart prices and almost losing control of several bodily functions I decided I could make my own for a fraction of the cost.
I looked at what other people had done and I bought a small cooler with plastic wheels at Walmart. Then I went and bolted 3 sections of 2" PVC to the back to use as rod holders... Great in theory, but when the weight is back there and tipped back for pulling its very unstable.
The fix- I used the center rod holder to mount a removable handle. I used a 5' length of 1 1/4" PVC with a sweep 90 bell end down to go into the 2".
The new handle runs through the original handle.
Works great, used it today on yhe pier. cost was less than $50. I am considering upgrading to some slightly larger tires, probably pneumatic. Pics to come. Only have my phone at present

Saw it yesterday. That handle made it stand out and was a good idea. Harbor Freight (Mobile and Pensacola) has 10" wheels on sale for $4 each.

Well that makes it easy. I'll be heading through Mobile on my way home Tuesday.

I had the same problem with my first cooler cart.....bought a wide one and mounted the rod holders on the sides set of 3 rod holders.....worked great till I found a jr. For 50.00 so many years ago from a military guy that was being transferred away from Pensacola......still have that cooler just incase.

I still have my two wheeler with the rod holders. Took it and my Peir cart to the shed this morning. Sure rolled that two wheeler out a few times

I made one out of a baby trailer I got at a yard sale for $20. Added a Milk Crate and some rod holders. I added a handle that I can remove to pull it behind my bike from the condo.
