Hey guys. Last time we were at the pier my son was talking to a guy who he said was using a double grub/tout like rig that was tied in some way where one larger grub fell at a slower rate than the second one.
Have you heard of this rig? ( It sounded well used) What is it and what is it used to catch? The guy tried to explain it to my son but that was to a male teen brain that got all jumbled up once the sun came out on the beach. Thank-you.
If the rear jighead weighs more than the front one it should fall faster.
We used to do that with "speck rigs" (they are 1/8 ounce jigs).
We would splice on a 1/4 ounce "redfish jig" or a 1/2 ounce "Looney Jig" along with the lighter jig.
Works best when the fish are deep or the wind is blowing.
Ive used a tandom speck rig. This was different. He jigged it up and down and had some loop system that made the top grub sort of flutter down slowly. I want to say my son said it was for sheepshead????
Ahh, that sounds a lot like the 'drop-slip knot' used with Doc's Goofy Jigs.

Great for pompano, whiting, spanish, etc. They often hit the 'fly' as it flutters down behind the jig.
That sounds like it. I couldnt find in that link though how to tie that knot. Im gonna keep looking as I think Im circling in on it.
