Rather than buying beach tires for my pier/beach cart, what do you think about finding PVC or Poly pipe that has an ID a little smaller than the OD of a properly inflated pneumatic tire? Let a little air out, slide a piece of pipe on (one that is wider than the tire) and then add a little of air back into the tire to secure the pipe? Please see the attachment for reference. Keep in mind that the actual pipe would be wider than the one pictured. Would this help as I trek up and down the beach?
I like the large flat surface, though 8 in or 10 in PVC is adding a few pounds to the total load.
Up and down the beach where it is wet,maybe. Through dry sand,no.
What John said. There's a reason people decrease their tire pressure when driving on the Beach. A softer tire allows more surface area per unit of weight. Meaning you sink less and also have more traction. I suppose traction isn't an issue unless you've made a self powered or motorized pier cart.
I passed on 2 different coolers this past summer that were motorized.....thought about getting them for the older guys on the pier.....only seen one using one before, but he was in pretty bad health, and only out to visitQuote:

I have thought of yours since you posted it, thought it got sold.....not sure when the next trip will be....most likely not till the fall now.....wanted to do a spring break trip but seems everyone has obligations....never know though .....the jr has served me well and goes through the condo doors fine.....not sure the senior would be as convenient, plus just picked up a yeti to fit the jr......
Thanks for the offer....still debating if I need the larger cart.....might be to much of a hassle, the jr has done well for 10 years now
