going to make a sand flea rake and was wondering if anything special I might want to do to it...... to make it better...thanks for any help and advice

Put a T on the handle so its easier to drag
Make it wide.

so how wide is that? looks like 32inches(16in to the center pole)...if the hole spacing are 1in apart on the perforated metal at the bottomQuote:

OK which screening would you use? is the expanded metal opening too big? 7/8 x 3/8 in at the widest points.......it is stainless so will last a long time where the other won't
the small ones might fall through, but most I don't think would

BTW, I am 'in the market' for a new sandflea rake (hint-hint ;-)

Yep, wide is good! It may need bracing though ?
If the leading edge is too sharp it will cut the sandfleas in half :pirate
10-12" wide and deep sounds good, but it should have a squared or rounded bottom (NOT V-shaped).
Stainless steel dropnet rig is optional but then this model looks great...

Guy in Fla did a two part video on making his on youtube. He was a commercial pompano fisherman so he probably knew a bit about catching the fleas. He convinced me that buying one was probably a better alternative for me than trying to build. But there are probably some ideas that'll help you design yours.
