    114H Stainless Upgrades

Upgraded my Penn 114H 6/0 Senator with multiple stainless steel parts and double dogged it.

This reel now has the following stainless upgrades:
    Gear Sleeve
    Double Dogs
    Pinion Yoke

The yellow line is where I Dremeled a channel for the dog spring to sit, it is now mirror image of the original.

With the SS gear sleeve I'll be able to crank with more drag.
Combined with the other SS parts, I should be able to maintain 30#s of drag without issues.

And I'm eagerly waiting for Pro Challenger to run production of stainless gears sets for the 114H, gear & pinion, in either original or hexagonal designs.
They will be running stainless gears for many of the most popular Penn conventionals.
Interested? Taking Order: PENN 114H 3.25:1 Gear Set (Main and Pinion) in 316 SUS

One of Alan's guys got a test set and was managing 40#s + of drag.

Opened it up and took a few pics of the new spring I mentioned.

I also wanted to be sure the spring couldn't get loose from there, so I put a brass plate over it.

Combine insomnia and boredom, and you too can annoy your wife with a Dremel at 3am.
No more two tone color scheme with old/new side plates.

Received a 9/0 stainless dog, so it was now time to work on getting the dogs to engage the ratchet simultaneously.
I milled out the original side plate of my 114H to accept a double dog arrangement.
Took the time to practice on some similar plastic, and experimented with which bit(s) would best suit the job.
It turned out much cleaner than the first one... Planning, practice and right tools for the job.
