I would stay away from a 705 because you can't manually flip the bail, you have to crank the handle.Do the kid a BIG favor and get him one of the following reels with the bait runner feature:Old model Shimano BTR 4500(used price around $75),Penn 560L(new around $145) and the best reel for the money is the Okuma Avenger ABF65 and we sell it for $62.
Thamks John...that the reply i meeded and im very appreciative! btw, he's already eye-balling my customrod! Happy Holidays, Greg
Ya have to remember, H&H were 10 and 12 when the pier reopened and having the bait runner feature on their reels made them successful in catching fish while I was busy choking every thing that I tried to hook.

Two thumbs up, John!
I certainly agree with the bait runner option, and that Avenger fits the bill well.
Great advice.
