Wanted- Sakiki Rod

I would like to buy a used Sabiki Rod with or without reel. My wife doesn't think I should spend any more money on another rod, so I'm looking for something used. She just doesn't understand...thanks.

If you do decide to buy one make sure it's long enough to be able to take the whole rig in without having to shorten your rig.With the one I've got you have to shorten the end you tie your line too every time because the lead won't pull all the way up to the end.The rod needed to be couple inches longer.Course now you have to cut one of the hooks off every time you use it HA HA.

got mine on ebay new for 27.50 + free shipping......watched the auctions and hit it right through the middle of the night.....missed a few times but finally won one at my price ....made in Destin Florida

Thanks Ironman. That's what I've been told, but your right. Havnt found anything used on eBay and they start at $65. Out of my price range. I guess I'll just continue to try and untangle what I have.

I used to put a light weight piece of PVC pipe over the rod and that worked well for storage. Now I use a ribbon rig a lot and hook the sabki on a shower curtain ring and drop the sabiki into the PVC which fits in a rod holder on the cart. Makes it easy to switch back and forth from ribbon to sabiki without wrecking the sabiki.
May be Ghetto, but works like a charm. :cool:

I'm going to make a sabiki rod from PVC. Several examples on YouTube and you can do it at a fraction of the cost.

Here you go, looks simple enough to me and wouldn't cost more than $5

Thanks to Fin and Big Dawg. Seems simple enough. I'll try this if I can't find a used one. Trying to figure out though how to put flair on end.

Two ways to put a flare on the end.

1- Buy pvc conduit which can be bought with the slip joint on the end as shown in the 2nd video.

2- This my favorite. Eat a dozen oysters and drink a bottle of beer. Take the bottle and heat the neck where it flares and press the heated bottle into the PVC pipe. You might have to repeat a couple of times to get the flare you want. Which is a good thing, because it means more oysters and beer. :D
