The 704 has never had the mystique of the 706 or Mitchell 302. I don't know why.
cause the 704 needs too much mods to have a mpu worth a darn.. the factory pum is garbage..

Interesting thought. I just assumed the kits were rare because time has passed and the rest were in use or gone. I am still mastering the bailess reel, although it is not all that hard. I just wonder how I would do in the heat of battle.
With a little practice and a bunch of cut fingers, or one really good cut finger, you will either figure it out, or come to the conclusion that manual reels are not for you.
