Penn 420 SS Spinning Reel
I recently found a like new Penn 420SS ultra light spinning reel. I picked it up at a garage sale from an older gentleman. Looks like it's never been used, or in salt water, at least not here in Northern Wisconsin!
This was from the mid 80's with the metal body and push button spool.
i don't know the value but if there's any interest in this reel, I'll bring it to the Gulf next week. Anyone know what it's worth, please let me know. Thanks.
good fishing...

I had one of those at one time, probably one of the toughest UL reels ever made. As far as your query about its value or worth, let me say that in the case of this reel, those amounts would be entirely different numbers. Its value in a fair trade wouldn't be very much, maybe $30 to $40. Worth would be significantly more if you look at what it would cost to get a current reel made with equal or better features. In the case of this reel, I would have to spend at least $100 to get another reel that I would feel was its equal or better. Depending upon your personal needs and wants, what is worth to you could be more or less.
I would load it up with some quality 4 or 6# mono and fish with it.

Check ebay......the metal body ones are worth more, and not too common......I have one, that isn't quite right ......loose spool or main shaft

Thanks Bill. Everything works as it should. I'm not sure it's ever been used. No scratches, corrosion or rash! I might just keep it for a bait rod, but then again, I have too many as it is. eBay only has one at $79.

Fshntime, if you'll ship it I'd like it. I don't have paypal or anything so I'd just send you some cash. Let me know. Thanks, James

James,
I know and trust you. I haven't set a price, but I'll email a couple pics and you can make your offer. Besides, Ironman vouched for ya'll and that would have been good enough for me. Msg your email to me.

SOLD
Alright guys, done my research on this nice ultralight and discovered these metal reels are quite rare and sought after. Reel is $50 + shipping for whatever that may be, or I can bring it with me next week and we can meet on the pier to save the shipping.
There's only 1 available on eBay for $129, so I think $50 is fair. Let me know what you think. ThanksLast edited by fshntime; 09-28-2016 at 09:55 PM. Reason: Item sold

I have one of these I bought on eBay. Think I paid around $70. Its a great little reel. The only thing I don't like is the reverse on it and the screw on the handle that constantly loosens. But it's a solid reel, I bought it for catching whiting in the surf in the winter and fits that bill perfectly, Ive even landed a couple bull reds on it.
I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
