Re: Is this guy Crazy or what Penn Reel $599
That is a VERY rare find in good condition. ???
This is a Vintage Penn 711 Spinning Reel from 1966! It comes with the box, paperwork and original wrapping paper. The reel has scratches but the pictures look worse than it really is as we take closeups. According to Ben Wright, author of "The Wright Price Guide for the Reel Man" Penn made 400 710 reels with a flat black finish and 400 with a stippled black finish in 1966. As Penn kept no records of how many 711 reels they made, we don't know how many are left. Ben Wright estimates there were between 10-100. I have also heard that they made 1 hours worth of these reels, but I can't verify that. I opened up the reel and took pictures of the inside to show that this is not a repainted reel. The box is in good shape and has the original cardboard insert. The wraping paper is crumpled and has oil stains on it. Feel free to email with any questions. You won't see a reel like this often as it is the rarest Penn reel!
This is one of two of these reels that we have so we may have 2% of the worlds supply or 20% of the worlds supply! If you own one of these reels, please send us an email as we would love to get a feel of how many of these are left.
But then that's what it is... 8)(RETIRED) mostly.

Someone will buy it if its rarity is verified... Or not

I started buying on ebay back in February and it was on there then. It is special......and he can have it all to himself. There is also a guy selling a 707 for $299 that has been on there just as long.

Useless without a fish on the end!
I suppose one could attach it to a vintage rod, and get some vintage line and lure. Then, put a mounted fish across the room vertically as though it was hooked. Attach the rod and reel with a bend across the room, and run the line and lure to the mounted fish. Great display for any room, and all with vintage gear.
Not for that price though.
The seller has a 51K+ rating, so doubt he cares. Likely a store or pawn shop owner.

The condition that reel is in is a joke for what he's asking.
