I feel bad for anyone who hesitated picking up one of these when they had the chance. These are exceptional gaffs, they have killed a lot of fish on the pier....

I know the distance to the water is suppose to be 25 ft. but what is the shortest rope that can be used for Gaff. The reason I ask is I've got some big dock rope from the yard sale James and Sarah had before they moved. Somebody let me know and I will see how long they are next time I go down. I've also got an anchor with chain and rope I bought at Dolly's Attic years ago if somebody with a boat is interested will let it go cheap.

I don't know the shortest, but one of these will belong to me on Monday morning just prior to my arrival to the pier. For ease of use I would think 35-40 feet would be acceptable. You making a sweet deal on some rope?

Not sure exactly how long they are but will measure them when I get down probably the 29th.

    Tato,
My net and gaff ropes are 35'. The extra is for the 4' rail and variance in tide height. Normally have 4-5' left over.
