Pretty sure i had that same look on my face when my college girlfriend made kale chips and asked me to try them...
BUT,...if you had Kale,... and milk...you could survive on a desert island basically,..forever.
Most of the Boomer problems with kale and/or other green veggies is because the old way is to basically cook the bejesus out of them. Limp, tasteless, pale greens?,...no thanks.
But, go the garden, pick a bit of fresh kale, or collards for that matter,...
wash and roll the leaves up, slice with a sharp knife into ribbons, and put them into a shallow skillet with just the water that clings to them from rinsing. Drizzle some sesame oil, add some sun dried tomatoes, and some toasted almond slivers,...man,...you’ve got something there now.
Maybe you could use the kale to attract grubs, beetle larva and snails---eat them instead of the kale. I understand that milk will ferment under the proper circumstances, so, desert island food and drink problem is solved.
I bet those big kale leaves make good toilet paper... Very handy on a deserted island. Much better thsn using a handful of sand.
Ha ha yea,... when you put it that way, I agree,..kale certainly could be useful at both ends of the “spectrum.”
