What's the best line for cobia? Best brand and pound?
I've always used pink Ande in either 25 or 30 pound test. 25 is easier to throw and your jig will go farther. It is nice to have the 30 when the fish is near the pier, though, after you've hooked it.

How many yards would you need?
Twenty-pound-test is not heavy enough. Go with at least 25. A cobia is pure muscle and will try its best to get into the pilings when you get it close to the gaff. You need the heavier line to keep it out of the pilings. This fish weighed 62 lbs. and I caught it on 30-pound-test. You need about 200 yards at a minimum. This fish ran out at least 150 yards.

I might sound dumb haha but i ling fish with 16lb momoi and i know itll catch one. my dad put one on the deck last year at the picnic with 16.
20 lb ande clear
30lbs used to be the go to line for Cobia but with GS being a cut throat pier and todays braided lines if you use mono you have to go smaller to even have a chance anymore.
