Lake Shelby fishing.
Back in the late 80's and 90's, friends and I would drive down from Mobile and fish the lake from the bank. We would catch channel cats, bass and white perch.
I live out of state now and haven't fished it in years. How's the fishing these days and does anyone have any tips or tricks they can pass along to fishing it?
I've always found the lake a bit of a gem and when I'm down that way, I never seem to see boats in it.
I used to catch catfish on chicken livers under a cork, bass on shiners under a cork and school reds on mini rattle traps. Also, the crabbing was once pretty good.
Anybody else have any tips or thoughts?

In that tannin stained water it seems white or chartreuse would be good bets...
But green (like Baby Bass) ought to work well too.
I've not tried them, but the Beetle spins in these colors should produce.
There are some nice bluegill in Lake Shelby ...
