Tuesday rough surf diverted me
I got up at daylight and took one look at the surf and then looked at the Orange Beach weather buoy forecast for the day and made other plans. I am staying at Windswept condos on Perdido key and they have a nice pier on. ono River. I had stopped at Billy,s on the way in and got me some fresh shrimp so I decided to go over there and catch whatever and use them for crab bait. Well the crabs did not cooperate but I caught a decent mess of whiting. Actually they were Southern Kingfish, but most people call them whiting and they filet out the same and taste the same. So Tuesday was spent on the pier there. No crabs Monday or Tuesday but I caught another mess of Whiting and got my exercise by catching a good many gafftop sail catfish. Most of them were between 15 and 20 inches long. On my light tackle they gave me a good fight. They are good to eat but so slimy that I just release them. When my wife returned from Tangerine outlet we went to Cobalts and enjoyed their hapy hour with Fire Cracker Shrimp and draft Yuengling beer.

I saw one yesterday but it was closed mouth. Would not eat anything thrown. I personally know of 3 that have been caught in the last two weeks. No kings yet.
