Sewage Again!
Those of you that fish Mobile Bay may want to reconsider. Fairhope has again issued a pollution warning for recreational use of Mobile Bay by dumping 100,000 to 200,000 gallons of raw sewage into its tributaries. Ill never understand why this continues! So sad...

I saw this on the news this AM. Spewing up out of the man-hole covers . Here, run off from the roads, etc. goes into a small creek that runs behind our house not into the sewer lines.

Yes, big difference between storm sewers and sanitary sewers.
-
I am also suspicious of their volume estimates. Who knows how much pours out of those manholes?!!
-
Manholes are associated with storm sewers not sanitary sewers. Sanitary sewers are for raw sewage and that is what was dumped.

Wet Weather Overflows (WWO) are the most common form of sanitary sewage spills nationwide (unfortunately).
Usually the result of floodwaters (often from storm sewer overflows) infiltrating into the sanitary system and overwhelming the capacity. It is a complex problem, but it is 'fixable'. In the meantime, we are stuck with a nasty mess...
