Week after Thanksgiving
My family and I will be down the week after Thanksgiving. It will be a first for us this time of year (we always spend a week around Mothers Day). Any tips for surf/pier fishing would be appreciated. Thanks!!!!

Typically, whiting and black drum are biting in the surf zone right after Thanksgiving. Deeper pilings on the pier and along the seawall at Perdido Pass usually hold sheepshead. For the last several weeks, fishing has been super-slow at the pier. I'm sure that it will return, but lately it just hasn't been happening on the pier. Fishing for whiting usually involves a small piece of fresh-dead shrimp plus a fingernail-sized piece of Fishbites on a Carolina rig, fished in the surf zone. It's your best bet for after-Thanksgiving fish.

I saw one yesterday but it was closed mouth. Would not eat anything thrown. I personally know of 3 that have been caught in the last two weeks. No kings yet.
