Have been reading for a while and this site is great. I will be staying at Porto del sol next week and thought I would fish off of their pier. Any thoughts or tips on what I might can catch there? I also thought about fishing from the beac on the east side of perdido pass. Would welcome any input you guys could provide.

If so, you should have a decent chance at redfish and specks at night (under any dock lights that shine on the water). Use free-lined live shrimp...
Flounder and mangrove snapper during the day. Use bull minnows on bottom or free-lined shrimp.
Bluefish and jacks should be available (on jigs and spoons) at the east jetty but the tides will be NEAP next week and there will be a full moon.
The timing of when you are able to fish could be critical (and problematic) to your success.

My brother and I own and rent a unit down there at Porto del Sol and we placed lights on both piers for folks to fish from. I've seen speckled trout caught there and have actually seen some flounder in the shallows around there. Good luck! And if you want to come back, maybe you could rent my unit next time. ;-)
I will be bringing my crab trap. I would think the pier at the condo would be a decent place to put it out. Any suggestions on a restaurant ( family friendly ) and he nearest place to buy live shrimp?
we will certainly look you up for your condo on our next visit.
Outcast Marina (just east of the Perdido Pass bridge) usually has live shrimp, and Mo Fishin (just west of where you are staying) often has them (when they are open ;-).
But J&M Tackle (on Hwy 180 in Orange Beach) will have the best bait and tackle selection AND FISHER-FRIENDLY HOURS!
Cobalt restaurant is also just across Perdido Pass bridge and has great food and a nice view of the water. Cosmos is a few miles away and is another great place to eat. If you catch something edible both will "cook your catch"- a real treat for us visitors. Flippers is another good eating spot at Bear Point Marina.
