Good morning,
Bought my 1st popping cork for a xmas trip to Gulf Shores. I don't know if December conditions will provide any results with it, but I am excited to try it. I understand the concept of the popping cork and it's intent to mimic crab clicking and create surface disruption and fish curiosity.
Has anyone ever tried a popping cork for freshwater fish such as bass or Northern? Just wondering if there's potential.

I've used one for stripers before and had some success.
A popping cork with an unweighted Fluke is a go to rig for Stripers and Hybrids here in Tenn. I also catch a fair amount of bass and whitebass with it. Probably not the same thing you are talking about, this is a weighted white styrofoam with a cupped face. Not the type that has the beads and wire through it.
With a small white jig or fluke they are killer on schoolie spots, largemouths, stripers and whites. Very effective just after the school has sounded. you get htat effect of his buddy is picking off the stragglers i think
We have been fishing what we call a plunker and fly rig for I know over 40 years for white bass.
