    Inshore Extreme

A good friend gave me a nice Bass Pro gift card, and I ended up buying a BPS Offshore Angler inshore extreme spinning rod. It is a graphite/fiberglass blend that is lightweight with a medium heavy flex, this one is the 8'6" model. I wasn't sure I would like it, but the bobo blitz today convinced me that this rod has merit. I'm not a rod expert like a lot of guys are on this forum, but for $130 shipped to my door it performed really well. I wanted it to toss xraps and other plugs with, and it definitely has that in it. I'm sure it is designed for braid.

It pairs well with the penn spinfisher VI 5500. I filled it with 20# spiderwire braid -- the white kind. I like it, too.

I got one of those when I worked at Bass Pro 10 years ago.
What sold me on that rod is it is rated to 2 ounce lures. I primarily use it to throw XRaps and bubble rigs.
Plenty of backbone, it will crush a big Spanish. Even bull reds are not equal to it, but I did get owned by both Jack crevelle hooked on it.

    Have fun Rich!

These days, I can't say anything that "owns" me is the rod's fault. I've gone down more than I like to admit, so I'll just blame it on having covid twice or taking the vaccine or both. Those tail-hooked bobos yesterday gave me all I wanted, but the rod was awesome. BTW, it was you, if memory serves, who was talking about some of the "offshore angler" stuff a few years ago that had me even considering one. I try not to ever forget a Pier#r recommendation.

Glad to hear all the good reviews. I have one on the way for plugs and spoons and such. Ordered 5 days ago, but it has not shipped yet.
