Treble hook points and barbs go dull
I buy good name brand treble hooks for swimming my live bait and have noticed for sometime that the points and barbs lose the sharp points and barbs start to disappear, I have filed the points but that exposed metal rusts away quicker. Any suggestions on a better quality hook?

I use Gamakatsu. They're sharp and strong. I haven't had any issues with them.

I protect the points (barbs) with those inexpensive lure wraps (from Bass Pro to keep them from rubbing against each other, and also getting tangled so easily.
Hope this helps!

New England guys value VMC. West coast guys like Owner. Regional preferences just mean that word of mouth is important for sales, but it doesn't constitute materials research.
As long as we insist on dunking metal in corrosive liquids like salt water, hook makers will have repeat business.

Spraying with Reel Magic or WD-40 after rinsing slows the rust a bit, especially combined with a hook bonnet.
People are shocked to see sharks in the water around here.
If you see natural water taste it. If it's salty it has sharks in it. If it's fresh it has alligators in it. If it's brackish it has both.
I saw one yesterday but it was closed mouth. Would not eat anything thrown. I personally know of 3 that have been caught in the last two weeks. No kings yet.
