Newbie here - looking for kayak fishing info + anything else

I am headed down to Gulf Shores soon (2nd-7th) and have never been before. I've done quite a bit of research so far; watching Bama Beach Bum's recent videos + reading the reports on here have gotten me feeling pretty prepared and very excited.

Anyways, I wanted to know if anyone has any info about kayak fishing in the area. My plan is to go out in Little Lagoon early in the mornings, and at night in search of dock lights for reds/trout. Any info about this area, or in general about kayak fishing gulf shores would be greatly appreciated.

Of course I'll be fishing the pier quite a bit as well, in addition to the surf and the Perdido Pass jetty, bridge, and seawall; so any tips for fishing these areas this time of year would be great.

I have already learned a great deal from this board so far, so thanks and I look forward to seeing some of y'all out there.

Welcome AL,...and you’re in the right spot. Looks like you’ve done a bit of homework already, haha.
I’m sure some of the guys will chime in here soon. I’m not a kayak guy, mostly split my time between surf and pier. Since you’ve checked out the Bama Beach Bum you’re already ahead of the game with the surf. There’s some kayakers who cruise here and you should get some info on that front also soon.

Welcome also and very happy to have you here. I am not a kayaker either, bur have fished some on Little Lagoon and Cotton Bayou. Your plan sounds very solid to me.I will be down the same dates in May with my grandson. There are many more members with MUCH more knowledge and info than I have. We will be at the pier and the surf close to Perdido Pass. Hopefully we will all catch our limits.

When I fish Little Lagoon, I launch at Jeff Friend Kayak Launch, 5.6 miles from Ft Morgan rd and 59 intersection, it is a day use launch only according to the signs. Also, look up Orange Beach canoe trail launch locations. I like the Bon Secour River and use the dirt launch at Aquilas Seafood.
