Mid August pier fishing, help
Wanting to know if kings and reds are still running
In mid August. I do fish the Texas coast, and I've only
Fished GS pier last year did not have much luck. Know one was really catching much last year except a few Spanish. Any input would be greatly
Appreciated. What are u guys catching the kings on, live bait, or frozen cigar minnows?
Re: Mid August pier fishing, help
I hope it's not the same as last year for you all....the dog days of summer aren't very good....compared to spring and fall... :boohoo: :fishing:
Re: Mid August pier fishing, help
Yeah August is traditionally 'slow' on kings, but last summer was rediculous.
There wasn't a king caught on the GSPPier for about 5 weeks.
So far that has not been the trend as a few kings are being caught each day on a combination of dead and live bait and lures.
No telling what it will be like two weeks from now though...
Redfish (bulls) are even less predictable but they do tend to show up sooner or later most days.
Hope this helps!
Maybe you can do better than the dismal luck you (and most of us) had last August.
