I’ll be down mid Feb through mid March. Staying close to the pass. What kind of shape is the pass and lagoon in post Sally? I saw it was dredged in May? I would be primarily fishing the west side of the pass and perhaps a little wade fishing north of there. Is it too cold to have much of an expectation? Should I focus more on the beach on the ocean side?
Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated. Hope you’re all doing well.
No experience with little lagoon in February or March, but I've fished it in January. Caught a few trout and plenty of pinfish. I used marabou jigs, soft plastics and shrimp. My fishing was from the gssrc lighted docks at night, so west of the pass on the south side.
I have been fishing from the little pier near the pass on little lagoon. I have been going twice a week. I have not had a single bite in the past 3 weeks there. Everyone else I have talked to has had the same luck. The first week of January was pretty good. Plenty of giant croakers, some really nice sand trout too. I have also seen a few flounder, redfish, and specs caught. Like I said though, no luck the past three weeks. Hopefully it starts to pick up again soon.
Just curious what time of day you have been fishing the LL pier?
I have tried earlier in the day 8-10 am and gone out later in the day around 3. I definitely had better luck fishing later in the day at the pier. Heart issues have kept me home the past week. Apparently I had a heart attack and I'm only 46. Hopefully I can get out there again soon after all these doctor appointments and tests slow down.
Listen to your heart. It will tell you when to slow down. And, if it says “I have a small pain”, get it checked out. I had 3 stents almost two years ago and the only symptom I had were aching jaw joints. I listen to my body a lot closer, now. We are both lucky to be alive. Many people don’t survive even a little heart attack. I hope you’re on the mend.Quote:
