Thread: Sportsman’s Marine in Fairhope

If y’all live, work or are traveling through Fairhope or Daphne on Hwy. 98, stop by Sportman’s Marine. They aren’t just a boat dealer, anymore. They now have inshore and offshore tackle, line, rod and reel combos, AFTCO clothes and they said they are getting in Pelagic clothes, too.

I live in Daphne and hated going to Walmart that has nothing in stock and I don’t like Bass Pro since they put Cabela’s out of business. (That’s a whole other rant). And, the prices are about the same as anywhere else, plus, the people are nicer. If nothing else, just go in a drool over their boats and golf carts. I’m sure they’d fix you up with as many of those that you want.

Anyway, I like to shop local and was pleasantly surprised when I saw all the fishing stuff they have.

The more drool-worthy places, the better I like it. Tackle store owners have personalities and so do their stores. Even the big-box stores vary (a bit) by location in the same region. And sometimes items that fly off the shelves in one store are back-corner orphans at the next.

Oh, but, I have been to J&M many times and taking nothing away from them, it’s nice to know where different resources are. Since I live in Daphne, I can’t always go to a place like J&M if I’m not fishing the pier that day. Plus, not all tackle stores have killer boats and golf carts. Just sayin’.
