Bait and tackle shop
Coming down for the weekend. Looking to get some live shrimp and maybe some spoons and jigs. Which bait store do y'all recommend. Thanks in advance.

+1 on J&M. Everything there and goo prices! Staff very knowledgable, so just ask and they'll be very helpful on what's biting, where and how. My choice for years.
good fishing...

J & M! Their ad is at the top right of this page. Well organized, fairly priced and you can find everything you need there. Do a mapquest search to get there the first time.

Did anyone mention J&M???
John G. is great, as is the staff, always willing to help.
Back in 1994 when I bought my 20CC, my buddy and I were in there every weekend of the summer asking all sorts of dumb googan/newb questions.
Every time, they tool the time to helped us out, even when I know they had to be sick of us.
Never sold us stuff we didn't need. Offered good advice.
That was almost 20 years ago, but I haven't forgetter, I even said thanks to John again this weekend at the pier picnic.Carl

Thanks for all the kind words about our store guys. There is a shop on the pier so don't worry about stocking up if this is your only trip.

The people that run the pier bait shop are good folks, helpful and convenient, but I still go out of my way to shop at J&M because they sponsor this forum, have a vast inventory and for some reason live shrimp from there tend to live longer. And as a clueless out-of-towner they have never tried to sell me a pile of junk that is useless for catching fish from the pier or surf. To my knowledge they open earlier than the other places so I don't miss the "first light bite ".
