I made it down this week to Fort Morgan to surf fish from Dallas. Enjoying the beach, great weather. So far caught many Bluefish, Puffers, Sharks and catfish using cut bait. Found some sandfleas yesterday and caught a pomp. Hopefully the slot reds will move in before I go back home....we'll see. If not I plan on coming back for a couple weeks in July. I added a pic of a Man of War..been a few of them around and they hurt if you run into one.
are the sharpnose edible?
Mr. Cleland. They sure are and good too. Atlantic Sharpnose also have a smaller size limit.

Today fishing is better.It's calm on the Gulf side and the water is clearing up a bit at Fort Morgan. Caught 2 Pomps with small sandfleas. Starting to see a lot of bait fish and action in the water which is great. Have great fishing if you decide to go.
I'm staying at 4 mile marker and all we've caught is catfish - what kind of cut bait?
try to catch live bait fish with a sabiki by casting out a little ways, i'd use the bait that is present in the water your fishing. it helps if you add a tiny piece of shrimp to the sabiki. Pinfish love it.
Fresh Market Seafood is right close by to y'all, and they have fresh shrimp for bait. Take some out to the beach. Peel 'em, use 1/2" pcs., and catch whiting, or maybe pomps, for supper.Quote:

A special thanks to pokenfish-bodebum-mr Cleland- and of course Texas guy- went and got some fresh dead shrimp and did better this afternoon- 1 pompano on the shrimp had a bigger fish on but lost him and also caught a 3 ft black tip shark under ballon on live bait caught with casting net
