Fishing today/Permit
Went out on Ft Morgan but the surf was too big. After lunch at DeSoto's decided to go to the pass. Within 10 min. caught a slot red! Caught some pinfish and put on one. About a hour later around 4pm the rod went off. Fought the fish for 15 min. but it got around the bridge piling and never got to see it. Unlike the slot red there was no controlling this fish. I love saltwater fishing! Go fish!

It's great, isn't it? There's just no freshwater equivalent to the power of bull reds, big jacks, etc. that can be caught in the surf zone. Before moving down here, I'd marvel, in my trips to the Gulf, at how exciting a big spanish, king or even a slot redfish were when they'd take line out. It's a thrill, still! I'll never tire of it.
I saw one yesterday but it was closed mouth. Would not eat anything thrown. I personally know of 3 that have been caught in the last two weeks. No kings yet.
