Work gets under way on East End groins | RESTORE Dauphin Island
Crews have been hard at work off the East End beach of Dauphin Island, where they’re utilizing barges, cranes and other heavy equipment to take apart and re-orient the rock groins. This photo was taken earlier this month (October). In early November, a deep-water dredge will begin pumping sand to elevate and widen the beach, using about 300,000 cubic yards of sand. Weeks Marine Inc. won the $6.7 million contract for the work, which officials said will take up to four months.

well I am coming down in a couple of weeks so I guess it is a good thing the west end is open for fishing.
