    Sharkbanz

I stumbled across this on Facebook today. It’s a small magnetic device that’s supposed to deter sharks from taking hooked fish off your line. At $75 per device, I would hope it would work and not just be one more piece of expensive tackle lost. Has anybody else seen or tried one of these? GSP, with its legendary shark problem, would seem to be a great place to test these.

This has been kicked around, but I have heard no definitive evaluation here. Jamming JAWS

I emailed the company about their product. They seemed receptive to providing some “samples” to the pier for testing. I didn’t pursue at the time because we were not in shark season. However at a weight of 6.5 ounces I would think they would be a significant deterrent to catching most of the fish that the sharks tend to rob.
    Haywire and DKillgore like this.

I don't think I'd attach it to the bait. If I had enough money for one, I might try dropping it on a down line to create a zone around a gaff. Just before gaffing or lifting fish is when a shark can zero in on a slow target. Bring in a fish at ski speed you might have a chance to make a shark miss. [Alternate plan B is to be unsuccessful and have no fish for chumming sharks.]
