When should you use either of these? What are the main differences between the two? I usually catch and release and just have fun catching fish while relaxing on the beach.
I fish early mornings for a few hours starting before sunrise and go in for breakfast before returning to the beach to relax and fish for the rest of the day.

Plus, the bubble is designed for FAST retrieval across the top of the water.
Do you cast it out and just reel it straight in or do you combine a fast retrieve along with some short jerks of the rod tip?
Using short jerks, reel as though you are trying to get it away from them. You can't reel fast enough to even make a hungry Spanish laugh.
Actually, you might want to use an average size, good natured person instead of a short jerk to do your reeling, but that's up to you.
The bubble is better in my opinion if sharks are around I think they don't see it as well. For distance I like the cork with the lead added to the end. They can be purchased that way in about 3 different sizes at Academy Sports in Foley. I make up my own using the weighted Styrofoam model at Bass Pro Shops that does not have the slit down the side and add 3/4 ounce lead on the end with 100 lb. leader through keeping it all together. I'm planning on coming down after Easter if you want to have a look at one. I'll be on the Octi that following Monday.
