bottom structure for yak fishing

hello. long time lurker and first time posting. im a michigander who has been coming down to GS since 1985. im a surf rat, love it. its all i think about other than steelhead. i am inquiring about bottom structure along east and west beach for kayak trolling and bottom jigging say a mile or so off shore weather permitting. i see quite a bit of youtube stuff off destin area but really havent seen or heard much about off gulf shore beaches other than little lagoon. thanks in advance you guys are great and your information on this forum is always spot on. tight lines a d look forward for your responses.

As for most numbers everyone will be tight lipped. Your best bet is the state public reef/wreck maps.

Not much bottom structure within paddling distance off OB/GS that I am aware of.

There are pyramids about 3 miles out but unless you are super intent on catching a little snapper, I wouldn't make the paddle out there. Rarely found the fishing around them to be better than any random spot along the beach.

Is the old whiskey wreck still on the outer bar off Gulf Shores? I used to catch some really fine flounder off it many, many years ago.

I wouldn't have any idea how to find it now. Too many years have passed and the buildings I used onshore to locate it have long been torn down by hurricanes and replaced.

The Whiskey Wreck is in less than 20 feet of water off Gulf Shores west beach.
In 2013 it was just 150 yards offshore beyond the sandbar. The wreck It is almost due south of the Public Beach Access Parking Lot on the east side of Bahama Bob’s. I guess it is still right there.

be careful at the Whiskey Wreck. It is on the fringe of the no fishing area I am pretty sure.

thanks all, i in no means was looking for a hot spot, rather positive reinforcement of hauling the yak 1000 miles along with trolling gear AND surf gear. Tight lines all, God Bless
