Blue Fin & other Pelagic Fish Mentioned

According to Jennette's Pier in Nags Head, NC a few weeks ago they caught several Blue Fin from the pier and kayaks close to the pier. Well, many do not know that it is illegal to catch, possess, retain, or land Atlantic Bluefin Tuna, Blue Marlin, White Marlin, or Roundscale Spearfish without a valid permit, or endorsement. The first violation carries a $2000 fine. Guess what, NOAA only issues valid permits and endorsements to fishing vessels. They do not issue these permits to land based fisherman. This applies to us as well. This past winter approx. 15 or so blackfin were caught from Pensacola Pier. While talking to the guys they said several yellowfin and a few blue fin were seen mixed in with the blackfin. Just a friendly heads up. NOAA does monitor social media.

Fortunately, Blackfin, mahi, and sailfish are NOT on that list.
