It looks moderately 'tannin' with patches of Sargassum...

I walked out and watched for almost an hour. The sabiki slingers were working hard to get an occasional hardtail or, rarely, a ladyfish. I did see a guy cleaning some spadefish.

Edit: and one of the sabiki guys had a jack in a box, donated is my guess.
People are shocked to see sharks in the water around here.

If you see natural water taste it. If it's salty it has sharks in it. If it's fresh it has alligators in it. If it's brackish it has both.

Any updates on water clarity or being fishable from the surf? We are heading down next week. I remember one year being down there when there was a lot of sargassum. We made the most of it and took advantage of viewing all the sea life that inhabited the sargassum. Some type of brown aquarium looking fishes and many other mollusks and crabs. Any update would be greatly appreciated.

My wife and I went out on a boat Wednesday. The water coming out of Perdido Pass looked better than what I saw off the pier Monday, so my guess is that the water is getting better, but there was still a lot a sargassum out there.
