Re: For all you guys that have lifetime fishing licenses and those over 64!!
Yes, indeed!
It is REQUIRED even though it doesn't cost you anything...
This includes residents who are not required to purchase an annual saltwater license such as those over the age of 64, have a lifetime saltwater license or fish exclusively on a pier that has purchased a pier fishing license.
BTW, failure to do so is considered a misdamenor and could result in a hefty fine for the non-compliant ???(RETIRED) mostly.

Yep, I got mine. This was posted a while back by TopPop, I think.
Probably a lot of us Ol' Farts that don't know about it.
Thanks for the heads up/reminder.

Just finished mine. Did it using my smartphone. Took 5 minutes and just bookmarked the receipt. On another note I looked at some of the prices for licenses and realized that the license I have has gone up almost 300% since I bought mine.

Re: For all you guys that have lifetime fishing licenses and those over 64!!
Blankenship said people in the three groups identified in the federal review of Alabama can voluntarily register anywhere saltwater fishing licenses are sold in the state.
They can also register at www.outdooralabama.com/fishing. Click "buy a fishing license online," then fill in the date-of-birth field. One of the license options is "saltwater angler registry."
Then this part cracked me up!!
If the free option isn't available, anglers can also pay $15 for the federal license and register at www.countmyfish.noaa.gov.Dealing with some REEL issues in your life? The DOC will see you now!

Also, when I was trolling through some of the stuff on the Alabama site I saw that there is an OPTIONAL license for people 65 and over. What's that all about?? You don't have to purchase a license if you're over 64 but you can buy one if you want!
