Would work for all Spanish and most Kings. I'm guessing at least 300 yards of braid?? Let a big king run a while against the drag and don't hoss him in too fast. Make sure the king is tried and gulping air at the gaff.

That combo will be sufficient. i've used 14 or 15lb mono on some of my lighter rigs and had good success with reds and jack. I 2nd Mr. Bills advice. mono is a bit more forgiving, braid as a backer with 17-20lb mono topshot is hard to beat.
How many yards of "topshot" mono?

always use semi loose drag, some fish scream and you won't be quick enough to loosen it before you hear snap.....adjusting it as you fight the fish closer , then apply more at the pier to control your fish....get the head out of the water as soon as you can (it takes the fight out of the fish waiting on net or gaff)
