Re: 6 day vacation
First off, WELCOME Greg!
Fishing in early June is generally 'wide open' with a full slate of fish available to be caught both inshore and offshore species (too numerours to list).
It all depends on you and what you want to try for, plus what your tackle and skill will bear.
Most 'bass tackle' will work for the inshore and smaller palagic species and double as a 'bait catching rig' for the bigger fish.
A 7' medium action spinning outfit is great for casting jigs and spoons or a 'bubble rig' for smaller palagics.
And a spinning reel with a smooth drag holding 250-300 yards of 15-20@ mono on a 7'-9' medium-heavy action spinning rod will take care of the bigger fish you may encounter during your 'early June encounter'.
So you can 'get by' with just 2 or 3 setups and a small box (or bag) of basic terminal tackle:
sabiki rigs and some 1/2, 3/4 and 1 ounce bass casting weights (for catching baitfish);
#2, @4 & # 6 single hooks and 1/2, 3/4 and 1 ounce egg sinkers (for 'bottom fishing' small panfish);
A 'Bubble Rig' and/or small variety of leadhead 'Looney' jigs and 30# or 40# clear mono leader material (for mackerel & jacks);
small black swivels, #4, #2 & #1 3X or 4X bronze treble hooks, and a pack of 30# bronze colored wire to make steel leaders for the larger and 'toothy critters'.
Hope this helps!
:fishing:(RETIRED) mostly.

Re: 6 day vacation
A little tip for your reels. Invest in a can of Reel Magic and spray your reels and allow it to dry before using them and then rinse them out really good with potable water from a hose on pier before you leave each day. Make a visit to J & M or Mo Fishin and get a couple of bubble rigs. I never imagined you could fill a cooler with a limit of good eating(spanish Mackerel) fish by using a piece of McDonalds straw for bait. A carolina rig 1oz egg sinker and a small khale hook baited with live shrimp or bull minnows will catch flounder and reds. J&M has an aerated bait bucket for about $25. Those two rigs will catch a lot of different fish. Get a couple of king rigs there too. If you are nice one of the locals will catch you an LY for bait or let you use their bait rig. J&M has the ribbon bait net for about $8 also. Pay attention to the IF YOU ARE NICE part. A kingfish or big red is way to heavy to reel up of the rail. So one of the locals at the end of the pier will either hoop net or gaff your fish for you. Hope you have a blast.

No doubt the "Two eyes, two ears and only one mouth" philosophy can make you a
passable pier fisherman in a short time period. Nothing beats time on the rail though.
Took me a few trips to really get the hang of it (maybe I'm a slow learner)! The point is
just have fun and you never know just what may decide to eat your bait.

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
