I would eat it if I were a pompano! Needs some fine tuning. I will try some different colors and flash combinations.

Try wrapping a drop of 5 minute epoxy over the threads to make it last longer ;-)
I used some clear nail polish. Can't wait to try them out!
I may ty some this afternoon. 30 degrees here today with 40 mph winds. :-( what size hooks did you use Chillinfish? Looks good!
Drop of super glue then nail polish once dried
Here's a few more.
Curious how the tinsel will work out.
But absolutely LUV the solid pink one and chartreuse one!
I'll take a dozen
That is crystal flash. The teasers I bought last year on Ebay had the tinsel and crystal flash and worked pretty good. The pink one has some pearlescent, the pink/charteuse has some yellow, and the chartreuse has a multi color. I have some tinsel and different hair ordered. Toying around with a longer hook and using eyes and the tinsel down the outside on each side to mimic a glass minnow and throwing it behind a bubble rig when it warms up a bit.
Looks a lot better when the sun hits it.
I'm not fussy, a nice mix would be fine,
No rush, I know that you shouldn't hurry craftsmanship
Going to get some super glue or epoxy for the thread.
I got my striper jig project completed. Now I can switch back to Pompano and Spanish Mac jigs. :-)

having never fished for pompano, what would you use them with? just shrimp peices, sand fleas and such?
i'd fish it! nothing quite beats catching a fish on a lure you made/tied. just a cool feeling.
Good to know thanks
Walmart in Gulf Shores sells Buccaneer Wiggler jigs in a 2 pack that look like the one in the picture. I use a 4"-5" loop on a 4' 30lb mono leader. After slinging this thing 80-100 casts the jig will weaken through and weaken the mono. You just cut and retie before that happens. It isn't necessary but you can tip the main jig with shrimp or fishbites to add a little scent. I get most strikes on the teaser.
Chilling, the wife uses nail polish - Sally Hansen Hard as Nails clear to finish the thread of her jigs. Cures rock hard and dries quick. Seams to be a standard for most home grown jig tiers.
I use Sally Hansen Hard as Nails as well. Works very well. On big jigs I add it under the hair and on top of the finished jig. Careful around the powder painted heads though it softens the paint until it dries. I also like to use it to protect painted and stick on eyes.
