#12 trebles

I came across a few packs of Eagle Claw #12 trebles... I have never seen them at my local wally world, they are on clearance too.

I've used the #8 and #10 with good success when drifting live shrimp... are the 12's to small for targeting specs?

What are some species that one would actually use that size treble for? Is it worth picking up a pack or 2?

That size works fine with those lil 2" to 2 1/2" live shrimp but you just about have to use ultralite gear (4# or even 2#).
Never tried the gold (except to catch bait) but being so small it may not matter to trout.

NOTE: no need to 'set' the hook with small trebles. Simply reel the line up tight to the fish and it either spits or is hooked.
Under heavier pressure than a pound or two of drag the hook is so thin it tears through the skin, so take it 'easy' ;-)
