I fished shallows from noon-thirty until four and saw some whiting caught, some of them decent size, and pompano caught---I caught four, two of which were big enough to keep. I got to net a big ugly (black drum) that pushed forty pounds, had to grunt to get him over the rail. Heard there were some sheephead earlier at the octi, but not many.
The water looked like you'd expect after that southerly blow and the surf was big when I got there, diminishing as the north wind picked up. I met Doug from Atlanta and got to watch him catch some pomps and whiting. Not a bad afternoon---pretty weather and some fish.
I saw one yesterday but it was closed mouth. Would not eat anything thrown. I personally know of 3 that have been caught in the last two weeks. No kings yet.
